Mission Statement

Keeping Louisiana Lands
in Louisiana Hands

Private Companies want to take and use your land. Don’t let them!

Senate Bill 108 & How It Helps Landowners

SB 108 requires that private companies negotiate with Louisiana landowners instead of using the court system to take their property.

That means that Louisiana landowners can truly negotiate with these companies on location of transmission lines.

It also means that landowners can get the REAL value of their property in negotiations, not low ball offers.

It also means that Louisiana landowners do not have to negotiate with the fear of a lawsuit dangling over their heads!

What is expropriation?

Expropriation is the Louisiana term for “eminent domain,” which is a governmental power to take private property to serve a public purpose.  Sometimes the government delegates that authority to private companies who are engaged in projects that serve a public purpose.  SB 108 makes clear that transmitting electricity through Louisiana, without offering us an opportunity to use it, is not a public purposes.
